Tasting Notes
Dark garnet, almost inky in color, this classic Calistoga Cabernet from a stellar vintage is boldly aromatic. Big, concentrated aromas of blackberry and dried herbs take center stage with subtle notes of black cherry, and a bit of toasty vanilla. Soft and round on entry, the fruit-focused core is lush and concentrated. As the wine opens up in the glass the black licorice and dark chocolate flavors shift to the forefront and this wine brilliantly illustrates true Calistoga Cabernet attributes. The texture is powerful yet elegant. The supple tannins are showing their youth now, but you’ll be rewarded if you give it a little time in the cellar.

Crafted from hand-harvested estate grapes, under ideal conditions, in a stunning vintage. The total production from our Calistoga Estate this vintage is once again a little smaller than usual, but the quality is superb. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that is carefully tended throughout the season and night-harvested, by hand on a crisp autumn morning. We age in 22 months in 70% new French oak barrels and 30% 2-year French oak. This wine can be enjoyed upon release, but given proper cellaring, the wine will continue to age gracefully for another 10 to 15 years.
