The complex flavor of the Macallan Litha is derived from the use of 100% first fill sherry seasoned oak casks derived from Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. Matured predominantly in American sherry seasoned oak asks, the Macallan maintains complete transparency and ownership over the sourcing of our wood and crafting of our casks which are responsible in delivering up to 80% of flavor and 100% of natural color.
A representation of two worlds colliding – Scotland and Spain to create an incomparable single malt whisky with a gentle scent of vanilla and butterscotch unites with a spark of citrus over a bright canvas of tropical fruits, reminiscent of a summer’s day and the radiance of the sun’s energy. Litha means “light” and it was the name that Celts gave to the summer solstice.
