This 1.3ha site is perhaps the best of the Lafon holdings in the Maconnais.The east-facing vines are located in the middle of the slope, in a semicircle, just outside the village. Fermented and aged for nearly one year in casks, showing great elegance and breed, with a firm citrus underpinning the ripe apple fruit. The 2019 Mâcon-Lilly-Lamartine Clos du Four is a step up in terms of aromatics, featuring lovely apricot and yellow plum aromas. The palate is well balanced with lychee notes lending it a sense of Alsace. Very focused with a long, persistent finish. Excellent. (NM) (12/2020)
