Ghost Block Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 750ml
VINEYARD NOTES
Cabernet Sauvignon sourced exclusively from our family-owned and organically farmed
Rock Cairn Vineyard forms the foundation of this wine. Planted in Bale clay loam soil
with a western exposure, the vineyard consistently yields fruit of exceptional quality.
The 2023 growing season began with abundant winter rainfall that replenished soil moisture
across the valley. A cool spring delayed budbreak and extended the growing season,
followed by a mild summer that allowed the vines to develop slowly and evenly. These
conditions provided exceptional hang time, enabling the fruit to reach full maturity while
maintaining freshness and balance.
The Rock Cairn Vineyard features seven distinct blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, ranging
from 6 to 41-year-old plantings. This diversity of vine age allows us to capture the unique
characteristics expressed at each stage of maturity, resulting in a carefully crafted blend
that reflects the complexity and identity of this cherished site.
TASTING NOTES
Deep and complex, the 2023 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon opens with layered aromatics of
blackberry, blueberry jam, and boysenberry, accented by baking spices, cocoa, and subtle
herbal notes of lavender and sage.
The palate is full-bodied and richly textured, revealing dense dark fruit—black cherry, dark
raspberry, and cassis—woven with savory undertones and warm spice. Notes of mocha,
espresso, and dark chocolate emerge through the mid-palate, adding depth and refinement.
Structured yet polished, the wine shows firm, well-integrated tannins with a supple, mouth-
watering quality and notable mid-palate weight. The finish is long and persistent, leaving
lingering impressions of coffee, cocoa, and spice with a tightly woven, elegant structure.
