Domaine Jourd Gabriel & Paul Chassagne Montrachet 2022 750ml

The vintage

Before the phylloxera epidemic of 1871, the Chassagne-Montrachet vineyards produced only red wines, with the exception of a few acres and the renowned Montrachet appellation, which is classified separately. Currently, approximately half of the vineyards are planted with Chardonnay and produce excellent white wines. On tasting, Chassagne-Montrachet white wine displays a pale golden hue with a fairly intense nose of flowers, warm croissant or brioche, and candied lemon, evolving with age towards nuances of toasted hazelnuts and spices. The flavor is straightforward, combining freshness and character, richness and finesse. The long finish leaves the palate with floral and gingerbread notes.
