Domaine Jean Esprit is currently on its 5th generation, run by Jean Esprit and his wife Lydia. The majority of the family business remains as it was generations ago, selling their Syrah grapes to some of the top producers in Crozes Hermitage, Domaine Alain Graillot and Laurent Combier. In recent years the Jean and Lydia have scaled back their grape sales to make their own wines. The "Esprit" cuvée is farmed from a vineyard parcel just behind Jean and Lydia’s house, and is aged entirely in stainless steel to preserve the freshness and vibrancy of their grapes. As the family has been farming Crozes-Hermitage since before it was recognized as an appellation, their property is planted to variety of crops, including cherries, apricots, and barley. Farming is entirely organic across the estate.
