The 2022 harvest in Napa Valley yielded small yet magnificent berries which are the trademark of mountain fruit. The ratio of skins to juice is more concentrated than in valley floor fruit, creating a bigger tannin structure to our Cabernet Sauvignon. We kicked the multi-year California drought in 2022 with copious amounts of rainfall. This added to the vines’ vigor and allowed the root systems to pick up more minerality and earthiness from the volcanic soils on Atlas Peak. As the photo shows, during the dormant season in February we actually received two feet of snow — a gorgeous seasonal sight on Napa Valley’s tallest peaks!
